Are you happy in this modern world?

I don't always like the idea of trying new things.
Don't get me wrong, trying a lot of things, exploring the world, and trying different hobbies is okay, it's totally fine. But another thing that's also okay is not being good at everything, especially things that many people seem to excel at.
Yes, you can be many things, and you can also decide what's not for you. But no matter what, never settle for mediocrity. Test the waters, do something, but you don't have to test all the waters unless you want to get drowned in the process of finding which one to swim in.
To put it simply, when you think you've found your path and you are convinced enough about it, and you can see yourself doing that thing and nothing else, stick with it. Along the way, if you genuinely have an interest in other things, try them out.
But if the reason you're trying to do something is because everyone is doing it or because of societal pressure and trends, don't you think you're on the wrong path? You're doing all this, yet you feel blank and empty, and you can't seem to get the satisfaction that others derive from it.
People are really different from each other, and you have to realise this. Some people genuinely have that passion and zeal for doing many things altogether and, while being successful at it, they also do it well.
Others just have the capacity to stick to a few or one, it's not laziness, it's just that whatever they don't find captivating enough, they don't do it well. They can't share their overzealousness with many things, so instead, they channel all their energy into a few or one.
And there are people who just want to engage in what the world is doing, whether it benefits them or not. They also follow the direction the world is moving in, not because they have an interest, but because they don't want to be left behind. People like this might actually be doing well, but they are so consumed with their quest for "worldly approval of success" that they fail to realise they are losing themselves.
And there are people who are simply lost in the noise, hoping one day to figure it out. Before the world gets louder, I hope they hear their inner voice so as not to remain lost forever.
You should learn how to choose for yourself what you want to do with the world, not the other way around because you would bend and break while trying to please it.
Accept it; what you like might not make sense to people, what you do for fun might be called boring, what brings out the inner child in you might be called quack or silly. For example, my brother doesn't like my music taste. Often, he would say, "What is this you're listening to?" And you know what I would do? I would increase the volume, sing at the top of my lungs, and do a stupid dance in front of him. Why? Because I genuinely love listening to those songs. He listens to his own choice of music loud enough for everyone to hear, why should I restrict mine to only my ears?
In a society where people are so immersed in a particular definition of fun and success, are you truly happy? Do you even know yourself anymore? Have you been treading on a path just to gain applause from others?
Remember, life is too short to walk behind people while you have your own lane, and it's also too short to live on another person's terms.
So, even though you can't be good at everything, you can be the best at what you do best. And if you can't necessarily be the overall best among others, you can be the best just enough for yourself. As long as you make efforts to constantly improve and develop yourself.
