It's not easy to let go of something or someone, especially when you've put in so much effort. It can be hard to gather many things together, but it's so easy to lose them all in a split second. Maybe that's just life. You can be doing everything right and it can still go wrong.
As humans, it's okay to wallow in self-pity and perhaps think about how you could have avoided it, but what's the point of crying over spilled milk? A broken glass cannot be put back together, and neither can you get tomorrow back.
I know that when we let go of something, we want something else to hold on to. When we can't find anything, it can lead to self-pity and depression. We find it hard to forgive ourselves for our mistakes. But just as a mistake can change the course of life, so can our reactions, responses, and attitudes.
Whether life simply does not go the way you want it to, or it's your mistake that led to your current situation, or maybe you had to lose people, your job, a relationship, or a friendship, don't be too hard on yourself. Cut yourself some slack. I promise, you will be fine.
Some of the greatest attributes in life are knowing your mistakes, admitting them, and not lying to yourself. Through this, we react better to situations and learn from various perspectives. Even when we understand that we are human and mistakes are inevitable, we do not use this as an excuse to justify our actions. Instead, we reflect on them, strive to be better, and make efforts to become better versions of ourselves.
We let go of the past. We live one day at a time. We let go of situations we can't change. We are not so optimistic about tomorrow that we forget today. But still, in whatever we do, we give it our all, we do not relent, and when things don't go the way we want them to, we learn to take a step back and give it to the One who is in charge, the One who rules over mystery.
